DESCRIPTION

Cetrimide cream contains the active ingredients Chlorhexidine gluconate and cetrimide . Cetrimide cream is a topical antiseptic formulation used to prevent and treat infections in minor wounds, cuts, and abrasions. Here’s a brief overview of each component

Chlorhexidine Gluconate (0.06% w/w)

• Function: Chlorhexidine is a broad-spectrum antiseptic that kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It is commonly used for skin infection.
• Mechanism of action : It disrupts microbial cell membranes, leading to cell death and reducing the risk of infection.

Cetrimide (0.6% w/w)

• Function: Cetrimide is a surfactant and antiseptic that is effective against a range of bacteria and fungi. It is often used for its cleansing properties.
• Mechanism: It works by breaking down the cell membranes of microbes, making it effective for both cleaning wounds and preventing infection.

Indications

• Treating minor cuts, abrasions, and skin irritations.
• Reducing the risk of infection in small wounds.
• General skin cleansing in minor surgical procedures.

How to use

• Do not take this drug by mouth. Use on your skin only.
• Wash your hands before and after use. If your hand is the treated area, do not wash your hand after use.

Side Effects

Skin Irritation: Redness, itching, or a burning sensation at the application site.

• For external use only; do not ingest.
• Avoid contact with eyes, ears, and mouth.
